An Obama administration official said that nonviolent icon Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. would "understand" and "recognize" the need for the US wars in Iraq and Afghanistan if he were alive today....
It appears that DOD's GC Jeh C. Johnson has never read any Dr. King's writings, nor studied his history, to make a statement like this..... otherwise, he would understand that one of the reasons Dr. King was assassinated was his absolute, unwavering opposition to the Vietnam War.
Were he alive today, Dr. King, I believe, would have been just as vocal against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
